Josie and her good friend Lucy attend the Karori Normal School gala together.

Meggie and friends go for a run behind Karori Park - and pose for pics holding up trees.

Meggie's friend Imogen (middle) shaved her head for a cure and lots of her friends came out to support her.

Back at school Meggie and friends organized a bake sale to make money for Imogen's "Shave for a Cure" effort.

More of our October photos. . .

Meggie, Ellie and I went for a walk up Johnson's Hill on a beautiful day.

On a rainy day I took the girls go-carting with some friends.

Another day we went out to Staglands with some friends.

Josie pretending to booze it up in the colonial jail.

The big girls taught Ellie to ride her bike without training wheels - that somehow got overlooked for our youngest all these years. She's a pro now though!

Enjoying smoothies as their reward for helping their sister.

Dugs and I went the the World of Wearable Arts - amazing show!

An unfortunate little bird flew into our room and Ellie managed to catch it despite its panicked state.

The girls love to hang out on our scaffolding.

More holiday fun

We went to see Grandma and Grandpa during the school holidays and had a lovely catch-up. I didn't really get any good pictures but I did think it was adorable how Katie and Ellie helped Grandma sort out some issues she was having with her ipad.

We also had baby Quinn Benton and her parents and grandmother over for lunch one Sunday - we were so excited to get some cuddle time in, she was born the day of Ellie's baptism which is why they couldn't make it.

I also impulsively started what was meant to be a very little kitchen renovation. It's December now and we still aren't finished.

The "before" pic. I decided to remove the bar on the right to open up the area into the sunroom. I also took out the bookshelves that were on the other side of the bar to let more light into the kitchen.

So then it looked like this, except I needed to do something to unify the flooring. I was happy to discover wood under the indoor/outdoor carpet in the sunroom but was still waiting to discover what was under the nasty linoleum in the kitchen.

I pulled out at least a million of these staples all by myself. I wouldn't recommend it. Also notice that although there was wood flooring under the carpet in the sunroom, there was also concrete leveling compound on top of it. It's a bit ironic given that the floor was not level at all in that room, and it will cost me extra of course to get it up off the wood.
