Meggie turned 18 on August 6th and we celebrated by having a few of her girlfriends over for a cocktail party since 18 is the official drinking age here in New Zealand.
We had Bellinis and a vodka berry punch. Once the first punch ran out we made blueberry-lime vodka spritzers and they were definitely the most popular drink of the evening.
Her friends gave her lots of Diet Coke (ugh) and money for the train travel she will do in Europe.
Katie spent the night and her grandpa gave Meggie the nicest gift . . . he paid for her flight from Paris and wrote her this poem:
She went to celebrate with friends in Katie's spa on the day of her actual birthday and then we all went to Southern Cross for dinner as a family and she ordered her first cocktail out.
